• Create a scalable deployment solution that allows AirBites to deploy new servers in any city or country with minimum cost.

• Design and implement a very customizable web interface.

• Interconnect several interactive components from the portal with the existing gaming solutions, creating an in-game interactive system that revolutionizes the gameplay experience.

The approach

DDNET Gaming Solution is developed towards a complete gaming portal as we want to address the youth community. They desire both access to the latest games and to news and game-related reviews. Having the necessary experience in this field, the DDNET team designed a scalable infrastructure for game servers which offers all players access to a variety of dedicated servers.

AirLeague

The main attraction and the most searched-for events are found in AirLeague — an inter-clan competition that generates daily events. This competition represents the DDNET vision over a semi-pro gaming league, comparable to an inter-club football championship where everyone faces everyone, with groups, special competitions, cups and tops. AirBites can provide teenagers an organized medium where they can arrange training sessions, challenge other groups and play for fun or pride.

The main events are linked to Counter-Strike and DOTA, but according to visitor requirements we can implement solutions for any multiplayer game. All events are tightly connected to the clan servers which serve both official games and training. The high level of interactivity between each visitor and the community, plus the user-generated content, brings this game portal to the top of searches — and a visited portal brings more sponsors interested in promoting and advertising with better reach.

Interactivity

At DDNET we stress interactivity. The users of our portal are able to interact with other players, communicate directly through our website, share their opinions on the latest news and take part in live chat sessions with the best players. By interconnecting several interactive components from the portal with the existing gaming solutions we give a new meaning to interaction between games and other systems.

While conventional solutions cannot let players interact during the game itself, DDNET created a system that allows high user interaction right from the game. By adding live feeds into the game, a user can choose to be alerted when a new e-mail arrives or when a friend goes online; and if a user gets bored playing, they can invite friends to join right from the game’s console rather than exiting the application.

Control

Controlling such a high-profile competition is made easy using our customized CMS that allows configurable levels of access for clients, players and clan leaders, giving them as much freedom as possible in implementing their own ideas regarding user-generated content. We offer pros a system to schedule training games and challenges, efficiently using the available hardware resources, and games are recorded so users can access demos of the best games and comment on them.

The general competition sponsors have a dedicated management interface where they can choose to organize a competition, set the contest themes, the days, the messages that appear on the servers (the promos), the prizes and more.
